By Sloth provides an overland trip planner, free travel tools (carbon calculator, journey time estimator, bike-on-train lookup), and a community note system where travellers share route intelligence. The service is provided as-is, free to use, with a paid Pro tier for additional features.
Route suggestions, confidence ratings, and community notes are planning tools, not guarantees. Transport schedules change, borders close, and local conditions shift without notice. Before relying on any leg for a time-sensitive connection:
We flag uncertainty explicitly (Check locally / Unverified ratings) because we believe that's more useful than false confidence. A "Check locally" rating is a prompt to verify, not a reason to skip the leg.
Some booking links in the planner are affiliate links. If you book through them, we may receive a commission from the operator at no cost to you. This is our primary revenue source. We only link to legitimate transport services — affiliate relationships never influence confidence ratings or route suggestions.
When you add a community note, you grant By Sloth a non-exclusive licence to display it to other users and use it to improve route data. You retain ownership of what you write.
You agree not to post:
We reserve the right to remove notes that violate these rules or are flagged by other users and confirmed inaccurate by review.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. Trip data stored under your account is yours — you can export or delete it at any time. We do not access your trip data except for technical support you request.
The carbon calculator, journey time estimator, and bike-on-train lookup are provided free without account creation. The email gate (after multiple uses) is optional — skipping it does not degrade the tool's function. Email addresses collected are used only to send occasional product updates; you can unsubscribe at any time.
By Sloth is not liable for losses arising from reliance on route information, missed connections, border closures, or any travel disruption. Travel involves real-world uncertainty that no planning tool can fully anticipate. You are responsible for your own travel decisions.
We may change features, pricing, or these terms at any time. Material changes to paid features will be communicated to subscribers with reasonable notice. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
